Repatriation of Mortal Remains

The High Commission can assist with the repatriation of the mortal remains of Cameroonian nationals from the UK or Scandinavian region to Cameroon.

Required Documents

Documents Required for Repatriation

Please see below the documents required to obtain a Certificate of Repatriation, which will allow for the deceased to be transferred to Cameroon from the United Kingdom or the Scandinavian region.

  1. Written request addressed to the High Commissioner
  2. Death certificate
  3. Affidavits of content
  4. Cameroonian ID of the deceased
  5. Embalming certificate
  6. Authorisation to take the body out of the UK or the Scandinavian region
  7. Free from infection certificate

⚠️ Additional Requirements in Cameroon

In addition to the above, the family will need to obtain a burial permit and an authorisation from the Service of Social and Cultural Affairs of the Central or Littoral Region, signed by a Senior Divisional Officer (Le PrΓ©fet).

This authorisation is required to allow the transfer and entrance of mortal remains into the relevant region (Douala/YaoundΓ©). Without this authorisation, it may not be possible to issue a Certificate of Repatriation.
